I don’t know if I can watch this Heat game. My gut says they’re going to lose… It’s not like they deserve to win…

June 18, 2013, marks 30 years since space pioneer Sally Ride became the first American woman in space. Since that time, Georgia Tech has had three yellow jacket alumnae in space. They are pictured from top to bottom:


Nancy “Jan” Davis (Biology, 1975) Nancy spent 28 days in space on 3 missions ans served as Director of Human Exploration and Development of Space (HEDS).  

Susan Still (Aerospace Engineering,1985) Susan spent 19 days in orbit and continued on to become a legislative specialist for NASA in Washington D.C.

Sandra Magnus (Materials Science and Engineering, 1996) Sandra has spent 157 days in space on 4 separate missions, and served as the Flight Engineer aboard the International Space Station. She was a member of NASA’s “launch on need” crew that would be called upon to fly a rescue mission in case of an emergency.

I met Sandra 2 years ago. Great person. It was an honor.
